Marquinhos and Neymar Jr's Brazil fall to a defeat without consequence

Marquinhos and Neymar Jr's Brazil were beaten in the dying stages by Cameroon on Matchday 3 of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 group stage (1-0).

After beating Serbia (2-0) and then Switzerland (1-0), Tite's Brazil were back in action on Friday, as they faced Cameroon. With qualification already in the bag, the Seleção were looking to secure top spot in Group G.

Tite rotated most of his starting line-up and his side couldn't turn the tie in their favour, and even conceded at the very end of the encounter. It was a defeat without consequence against Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting's side, given that Brazil remain at the top of the group, on the same number of points as Switzerland.

Neymar Jr continued his treatment with the Brazilian medical staff, while Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos started the encounter on the bench, but came on in the 55th minute to replace Alex Telles.

Marqui and co.'s focus will now switch to the Round of 16, with a surprise encounter against South Korea, who beat Portugal on Friday! The encounter will take place on Monday 5 December at 8pm, French time.
