Marquinhos and Neymar Jr nominated for the 2022 Samba Gold

The Paris Saint-Germain defender and striker are on the list of 20 players nominated for the 2022 Samba Gold, an award given to the best foreign-based Brazilian player, as organised by Sambafoot.

Having taken home the award in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2020 and 2021 – making him the player to have won it the most times since its creation in 2008 – Neymar Jr may well pick it up for a fifth time and thereby pull off a hat-trick that only his former Paris teammate Thiago Silva has managed before, winning the award in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Sambafoot's fans and special guests will vote for their favourite players between Tuesday 3rd and Tuesday 31st January, with the award taking into account the players' statistics, their role, their results and their influence at club level throughout the year.
