Marquinhos: 'A huge final'

The Paris Saint-Germain defender spoke at the pre-match press conference and answered questions from the media on the eve of the Coupe de France final against Monaco, on Wednesday 19 May at 21:15 at the Stade de France. Extracts.

MORALE

"I think that we are experienced players. We know the importance of this match. We have two finals to play this week, the first on Wednesday and that is the one we are focused on. We know our opponent well and we will need to really concentrate and prepare for this huge encounter. Monaco beat us on two occasions this season. It's down to us to prepare to beat them in this huge final. The message is always positive. It's an important match. A final, we need to win it, with the right concentration, motivation and preparation. We need to think about the match and perform."

MONACO

"I think that each team has a strategy to put in place. If we look at the two matches that we have played against them, there were good things even though we lost, but also things to improve. Monaco are a very effective side, they showed that at the Parc des Princes. We will need to be strong technically to break the lines, create chances and score goals. I think that it will be a good match. We like competitive matches and playing against teams that put us under pressure. Monaco have their strategy and we have our own. This team has a lot to win. They run a lot, use a lot of energy on the pitch. It has caused us problems. It's good for us and for Ligue 1 to have this type of team competing with us."

COUPE DE FRANCE

"A final isn't played, it's won! That's how we need to prepare for this huge final. The Coupe de France is different from the league, where you need to be consistent throughout the season. In the cup, you need to perform on the day of the match. We have managed to do so until now, we have had a great run and that has allowed us to qualify for the final. We are here to try to win this title, which is so important for us."

FINAL

"A final is always an important and special match. The day the leads up to it is different because it's a very exciting match. We are playing for a trophy at the Stade de France. It's important to be here, there is a really special and exciting atmosphere. The league? These are two different competitions, we will play in two finals that we need to win. We are only thinking about Wednesday's match. We know how important this week is, but now is not the right time to analyse the season. That will be decided during these last two matches."
