Marquinhos, a historic trophy
On Saturday, Marquinhos guided Paris to victory in the Coupe de France final against Lyon (2-1). Another trophy for the Brazilian defender who further cements his place as a Rouge & Bleu legend.
With a domestic treble in 2023-2024 (Trophée des Champions, Ligue 1, Coupe de France), the Paris Saint-Germain captain has dominated the podium this season.
Three titles this season, and 30 in total since his arrival in Paris in 2013 (9-time French champion, 7-time Coupe de France winner, 6-time Coupe de la Ligue winner, and 8-time Trophée des Champions winner), allow Marqui to equal the club and French football record held by his former teammate Marco Verratti.
This 7th Coupe de France victory is also a record in the comepetition, ahead of a different Parisian duo: Marco Verratti (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021) and Presnel Kimpembe (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021).
A record that could equally be beaten next season by Marquinhos, with Paris having won at least one trophy each season since 2012-2013.
