Verratti: 'We have 90 minutes left'

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti spoke to the media from the team hotel as he looked ahead to Sunday's Champions League final against Bayern Munich in Lisbon.

How do you feel physically after injury?

I'm better, I've started back with the team. I had to overcome the injury that was a huge set back for me. I will try everything I can do to be available for the match on Sunday and be in the best possible form. The coach will make the final decision, but I'll do anything I can to make the 23.

How do you feel, before playing one of the most important matches in club history?

It's an incredible feeling, I've been here for eight years and we've had some tough times, but that's normal because the Champions League is always like that. This season, so far, we've had an incredible journey. These are the most important 90 minutes of our football career and for the history of the club that await us. We have to train well and prepare well for this match, because we're going to meet a great team that has the same desire to win as we do. It's a deserved final.

We won our games, even though they were complicated. They were top-level matches, against Atalanta, where we won at the last minute followed by an incredible performance against Leipzig. It's a great way to win. We're happy with our performance. We've got a clear objective, we want to go all the way and give it everything we've got. It's a historic moment for the club but also for most of us, who've never played in a Champions League final. That's all we're thinking about.

What do you think of your opponents Bayern Munich?

We all watched the game together. They are a very strong team, in defence, midfield, attack, very physical, with quality players. Bayern deserve to be here, they've come a long way. It's a team that's used to playing this type of match, who know how to adapt to their opponents. They've always managed to be better than their opponents. That's why I think this is a final between two teams that deserve to be here. It'll be a great game on Sunday, it's a Champions League final and it's only natural that it's against a great team like Bayern, a solid team that's already won the trophy several times and knows how to reach the final. We're happy to play against this team.

Do you see this as the reward for years of hard work?

When you work, there comes a day when you're rewarded. We've been through some tough times, me and the fans. But I think it's part of a process that a team has to go through. In the Champions League, there's not just one team that wants to win, there are always five or six favourites and that's why it's hard to get there. It's nice to be in the final, but you have to win it to remember that. We know we've got 90 minutes left and we don't want to stop there, because at the end we only remember who wins the Cup.
