Marcin Bulka: 'A huge challenge'

The new Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper told us of his ambitions after joining the capital club.

Marcin, welcome to Paris. What are your first impressions?
"I'm very happy to be here. I'm proud to join a big club like Paris Saint-Germain. I needed a new challenge and wanted to discover something new. Contact was established between Paris Saint-Germain and myself, and I'm very happy to have signed here."

What are your goals?
"I've come here to learn, and to become number one in the future. That's my long-term goal, and why not become a very good goalkeeper in the future."

You're going to work alongside Alphonse Areola. Are you looking forward to working with him?
"I'm really looking forward to being able to start working with him, and to be part of this family of goalkeepers. From outside, you see they are very close, that they work in peace. It's a huge challenge for me, one that I'm ready to take on."

A lot of our fans want to get to know you better...How did you become a goalkeeper?
"When I was younger, I was an outfield player. One time, in training, our goalkeeper couldn't train because he was injured. They asked me to try. I put on the gloves and tried to protect my goal. I liked it, so I decided to stay there."

There have been a number of great Polish goalkeepers in recent years. Is playing for your country also one of your objectives?
"Yes, of course. It's always something that makes you proud to play for your country. That's one of my future goals. I watched Artur Boruc a lot in particular. When I was younger, he was at the peak of his career and a role model to a lot of young goalkeepers."
