Manuel Ugarte joins Manchester United
The 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder has moved to Manchester United on a permanent deal.
Manuel Ugarte came up through the youth ranks at one of his hometown clubs in Montevideo, making his full professional debut aged just 15 years and 8 months in December 2016. After amassing experience over four seasons in the Uruguayan capital, the young midfielder crossed the Atlantic at the end of 2020 to join FC Famalicão in Portugal.
He quickly established himself as an indispensable player at the club, making 20 appearances and scoring 1 goal against Rio Ave FC in the second half of the 2020-2021 season. That was enough to convince Sporting Lisbon to sign the promising ball-winner.
In August 2021, the man from Montevideo moved to the Lisbon club, just a few weeks before celebrating his first cap for the Uruguay national team against Bolivia (a 4-2 victory on 6 September 2021) and winning the Portuguese League Cup at the end of the season.
In July 2023 Ugarte moved to Paris Saint-Germain after making 85 appearances for Sporting and scoring 1 goal. In one season with Les Rouge & Bleu, the Uruguayan international made 37 appearances, winning 3 trophies (French championship, Coupe de France and Trophée des champions).
He has also made 22 appearances for the Uruguay national team La Celeste, reaching the third place of the Copa America in July 2024.
Paris Saint-Germain would like to wish Manuel Ugarte every success with his new club.
