Luis Enrique: "We want to dedicate this victory to the fans"
The Paris coach, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi spoke to PSG TV after Paris Saint-Germain's incredible 4-2 win over Manchester City on Matchday 7 of the UEFA Champions League at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday 22 January.
Luis Enrique
"I don't know how you say it in French, but it was very, very strange. I think in the first half it was a difficult game with both teams trying to play their football but it was very difficult. When we conceded two goals, it was unbelievable and unfair. The atmosphere with the fans was incredible. They support the team all the time, at every moment. When we were losing 0-2, the fans were still singing. We want to dedicate this victory to them. We have to keep going, we have to think about recovering and the next game, but this is a very special moment for us and we have to enjoy it."
Gianluigi Donnarumma
"It's an incredible feeling. After the two goals, I was a bit worried that the team would be different. But thank you to the fans because we had their support for 90 minutes, and that's incredible. This win is for the fans and for Paris Saint-Germain as a whole. We gave a lot of energy, you saw that on the pitch. The team played a great match and it's a deserved victory. We're going to carry on like this because it's not over yet, we've got another important Champions League match. We're going to enjoy tonight and then we'll look ahead to the league and the Champions League."
Achraf Hakimi
"What made the difference? Our mentality. We showed the character that this team has inside. At 0-2, it wasn't easy against this team. It was incredible... it's a feeling I can't describe. These are matches that are played inside and you have to bring out everything you have inside, and we did that so we were very happy.
As soon as we arrived at the stadium, we felt the support of the fans. It was incredible, magnificent. I have to thank the fans for all the support they've given us since the start of the year, and we're going to give everything for Paris Saint-Germain and for the Parisian fans."
