Luis Enrique: "We need to take three points"

Paris Saint-Germain's coach answered questions from PSG TV and the media ahead of his side's Ligue 1 match against RC Strasbourg Alsace at the Stade de la Meinau on Friday 2nd February (9pm).

the previous match against Brest

"I'm a coach who says what he thinks. After having the game against Brest, I don't think we had an athletic problem. I think they were a very good opponent, that's the reality of the situation. It's true that we had trouble pressing and recovering balls, but I don't think it was a physical problem."

Playing successive matches

"We need to win the next few games and get to the end of the season in the best possible way. For the moment, what's important is the match against Strasbourg. It's been a long time since they've lost, so we'll be playing at their place and I'm sure there'll be a great atmosphere. Now we're going to have to play matches every three or four days, so we need to take these three points, which are really important."

Strasbourg

"They're a team with better momentum than at the start of the season. They've had some good results recently and they're in the middle of the table. They're a team that creates but also defends very well, in an organised fashion. We're going to have to be ready for whatever happens in this game."

Squad rotation

"The coaches all have different methods, but I like to rotate the team so that all the players are included. I want them all to be motivated and get game time, even if it's a difficult thing to do. In my opinion, it's positive to have all your players ready to play."

Adapting to defensive low blocks

"Playing against an opponent who is tucked away in their own half and playing in a low bloc is the most difficult phase in football because there is little space and little time. We've worked a lot on that, it's a phase we know very well. And to make a difference in this situation, you need very good players."

Randal Kolo Muani

"What I can say about Randal is that I'm very happy that he's part of this club and this squad. He can play in a centre-forward position as well as on the flank, so it's very interesting. He has an excellent attitude and I'm happy to have him available."

Danilo Pereira

"Danilo is a player I know well because I often faced Portugal with Spain. I know him well and he's a very complete player who's very important to the team. He's a person whose got values. He's one of the players you need in a squad. Even when he's not playing, he's very professional in training, and it's great to have a player like him."

The academy

"For me to be able to use these Under-19 players like Warren Zaïre-Emery, Ethan Mbappé and Senny Mayulu, the club has done a lot of work beforehand, even before I arrived. We know that the Paris Saint-Germain training centre is highly capable, so when I see that they have the level, I offer them the chance to come and train with the first team. It's the right time to see if the player is capable of developing with us. After that, we monitor their development over the months. What's important is that they continue to play, whether with the first team or the U19s.
