Luis Enrique: "The best part of the competition"

The Paris Saint-Germain coach answered questions from the media on the eve of the third and final matchday of the group phase of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 against Seattle Sounders FC at Lumen Field on Monday 23rd June at 9pm. Here are some extracts.

STATE OF MIND

"First of all, I think we've reached the best part of the competition. We need to win to progress and that's what motivates us. We're ready and we've prepared for this match. As for Botafogo, I think we played our usual game. We didn't deserve to lose the game, but that's the way football is... We had a few problems, but the team played to a good standard and we need to keep going. I think the team is in a good place at the moment and has its usual mentality. We've had three perfect training sessions, with intensity. I think we're ready. We're going to think about how to manage the ball and press as usual. We're ready and I think we'll have a good game."

MOTIVATION

"At the moment, we're trying to prepare in the best possible way. It's a highly motivating competition. You have to think that you can only play this competition once every four years. We have to think about that to find motivation and see what our level is at the moment."

SEATTLE

"We've analysed Seattle's last few games. I think they're going to adapt their team and defend as well as possible. They're an efficient team that is strong defensively and plays with intensity. Seattle still have a chance of qualifying and we have to qualify too. All the conditions are in place for a great match."

QUALIFICATION

"It's normal. It's a very short competition and it's normal to be playing for qualification in the third match. We're moving forward and we have to think about playing each match in the same way. You can be knocked-out and you have to show your ability to know how to manage the match."
