Luis Enrique: "The balance of the team is very important"

The Paris Saint-Germain coach answered questions from PSG TV and the media ahead of his side's Ligue 1 Matchday 2 clash with Toulouse FC on Saturday 19 August at 21:00 at the Stadium. Here are some extracts.

TOULOUSE

"I think we'll be up against a team that is strong defensively and leaves very little space. It's going to be difficult, obviously. They won the Coupe de France last season, and Toulouse have a Catalan coach too - I don't know him personally, but I'm looking forward to it. We're going there to win and take the three points back to Paris."

MBAPPE and DEMBELE

"I'm happy to be able to count on world-class players like Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé, and it's a pleasure to be able to work with them. I feel Kylian is ready, he has a lot of desire, but that's normal for a player of his calibre. As for Ousmane, he's ready to start tomorrow's match."

the team balance

"We worked on the attacking and defensive aspects in a number of sessions this week. All the players need to know how to attack well and all the players need to know how to defend well. It's essential for everyone, and that's what we've been working on this week. The balance of the team is very important."

the forward line

"Great players complement each other well. They inevitably work well together. My job as coach is to discover the harmony we can create with this forward line. It's up to me to make sure they complement each other as much as possible."

philosophy

"It's impossible to say how long it will take for the principles of the game to be fully assimilated. There are aspects that we've made good progress on, and others that we still need to work on. You have to be competitive from the first game and make progress as you go along, but the further we go, the more the players will understand the philosophy."

the first trip of the season

"It's an important game. But whether we're playing away or at home, I want us to play the same way. We have to apply our principles and play our football. We have to use the same principles as we did in the first game."

SERGIO RICO

"I want to send a message to Sergio Rico who is getting out of hospital today, I want to wish him and his family a good recovery."
