Luis Enrique: 'Matches that motivate the fans, the players and the club'

The Paris Saint-Germain coach answered questions from PSG TV and the media before Matchday 6 of Ligue 1 against Olympique de Marseille, on Sunday 24 September at 20:45 at the Parc des Princes. Extracts.

CLASSIQUE

"From day one, we've known which matches are important. The ones that motivate the fans, the players, the club... This is one of the most important fixtures of the season. We need to be a team that brings intensity, but we must be careful not to overdo it, as it can be dangerous in this type of match."

CONTEXT

"There are two very clear options in such a situation. They had a good outing against Ajax (3-3). In Ligue 1, they haven't lost a match yet either. The circumstances are somewhat different, that's true. But this often happens because opponents play differently against Paris Saint-Germain. We were able to analyse Marseille with Marcelino, and we did it with Abardonado. We need to adapt."

SUPPORTERS

"The support and connection with the fans are key points. It's a source of motivation to play at the Parc des Princes, in front of our supporters. We need to play our football with the ambition to keep going like this."

COMPETITION IN ATTACK

"That's why I'm a coach, to see the players during training. I know who will play on Sunday, but I don't know who will play in the next match. It will depend on the performances on the field, but also during the week in training. As a club, we want a deep squad. I will manage things while always keeping the common goal in mind. I also like to have important players on the bench to add more competition within the squad."

VITINHA

"Vitinha is very important for us. He has a big role. At the end of the season, I would like to say that each played has brought something to us. He is adapting very well to everything we are asking of him. At times, he needs to drop a little deeper, without always following the ball. But he has immense technical quality."

LUCAS HERNANDEZ

"Lucas Hernandez is a new recruit who is already known the world over. He has two roles with us that we have already seen with the French national side and his former clubs. He knows both of them well. He is a high-level player, and I am very pleased with his performances so far."
