Luis Enrique: "Keep up the momentum"
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique answered questions from PSG TV and the media ahead of his side's Ligue 1 Matchday 19 clash with Stade de Reims at the Parc des Princes on Saturday 25 January (21:05). Excerpts.
Stade de Reims
"We're going to face a team that has always given us problems, against a coach who drew with us last season at the Parc des Princes. In Ligue 1, we always have difficult matches, be it at home or away. That has certainly been the case in 2025, we haven't won any of our games easily. Tomorrow, our opponents will be aggressive and we're expecting a complicated game."
"They're a team that defends very well, that knows how to occupy space, with players on the flanks who are good at transitions and who cross a lot. After the game we had against Manchester City, this game against Reims is a test. It's going to be tough, but we want to be at 100% right from the first minute and keep up the momentum."
The incredible comeback against MANCHESTER City
"The best thing about the game was the joy we saw around us: the fans, our families... It's an incredible feeling, and that's what we work for in football."
The run of matches
"We're going to be playing every three days. We need to be strong both physically and mentally. Reims aren't having a very good time but they're certainly a highly motivated team, so we need to keep up a high tempo if we're to pick up the three points."
‘We don't know whether or not we'll win tomorrow, as that also depends on our opponents’ level of play, but we'll be setting the pace in attack and defence, you can be sure of that. From one game to the next, we can be good and sometimes not so good, but I don't think the team will be slacking off. That's not in our DNA."
The team's development
"We're on our way. I've really liked what I've seen in training and in competition over the last few months, and our aim is to continue on that path. There will be wins, there will be losses, that's logical... But that win against Manchester City was special, that's true. I hope there will be many more. But in terms of confidence, it's extremely positive."
The arrival of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
"As always, when we recruit a player, it's because we believe he can help the team improve. When will he play? We'll see, it depends on training, but that's not really important. What's important is that he's with us and that he sees what we ask of the players in the team. We've analysed his characteristics, which are compatible with our game."
"After that, we'll have to see how he can connect with the other players to create synergies, that's our job now, but I think he's going to bring things to the team. Physically, he's very good. We've seen that in training. He's adapting well and I think he's ready. In attack, we have six or seven players and I think I can make a lot of combinations with them."
The youthFULNESS of the squad
"We've had a young squad since last year. I don't think that's a problem; on the contrary. Now we have a year's experience compared to the players who arrived last season. Every week, we have to be competitive: that's our objective."
