Luis Enrique: 'A very tough match'
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique and midfielder Vitinha spoke to PSG TV after Les Rouge et Bleu's 2-0 defeat to Arsenal in London, on Matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League:
Luis Enrique
"We knew it was going to be a tough match, with a high pressing game from our opponents from the first minute. We failed to deal with that pressure. We struggled to win our duels; we lost nearly all of them and it’s difficult to be competitive like that. Once they had scored their two goals, the game changed, they gave us a little more space, but it was a very difficult match for us and we were second best tonight.
"I’d like to congratulate our 3,000 supporters who travelled to London and sang until the last minute and I’m sorry that we weren’t up to it tonight. We have to keep working. We are determined to turn this around and improve our performances."
Vitinha
"Obviously we are disappointed. We didn’t produce the performance we were hoping for. We are disappointed by the performance and the result. It was the first half that really cost us tonight.
"It’s a shame we didn’t get that goal in the second half. I think if we’d got that goal, we’d be back in the match and it could have been different. I know it would have been different. But we didn’t get that goal and we have the feeling that we weren’t really in the contest. The truth is, it wasn’t a good performance and neither was the result, so we need to bounce back."
