Hernandez: 'I'm here to give everything for the club'

From his first 6 months, to playing at the Parc des Princes and his trademark grinta: the supporters asked their questions to Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Hernandez and he answered them to PSGTV! Here's what he had to say:

Bonjour Lucas, who are you enjoying live here since you arrived in Paris?

I feel great. Honestly, I'm very happy to have joined Paris-Saint-Germain. I’ve adapted really well since the get go. I feel great physically and mentally.

How do you find the atmosphere at the Parc des Princes?

The atmosphere, honestly, is incredible! When I was at Bayern Munich and we came here to play Paris-Saint-Germain, it was incredible. And to experience it as a Paris-Saint-Germain player, its magic. I think when you're out on the pitch and you hear all the fans cheering you on and getting behind you, it makes you want to keep going. And it's true that we need them, especially at the moment, with so many important matches coming up.

It really is a 12th man, an extraordinary public, and you feel it as a player, you feel it on the pitch. As a defender, when you make a tackle, you hear the fans cheer as if it was a goal. It's really motivating and encourages you to keep going. I can tell you that when you're out on the pitch, you really hear the fans, and that's really good. And then when you walk out onto the pitch with the magnificent tifos that the fans have made, with all the atmosphere, it just makes you want the match to start and to give everything for them. It's a great adrenaline rush.

You personally have also developed a great relationship with the fans!

It's true that when I arrived, there may have been some doubts, which was totally understandable. I was aware of all that, but I'm a very calm person because I know what I want and I know what I have to do in my life and on the pitch. I came to PSG to give everything, to win over all those Parisian fans who had a little doubt and really see that I'm here to give my all for this club. That's why I'm here. I'm a competitor and I'm here to win. That's why I'd like to reiterate to all the Paris fans that Lucas Hernandez will always give his all on the pitch and will do his utmost to bring home as many trophies as possible for them. At the end of the day, we're playing for them, for our fans.

Do you consider your mental strength to be your greatest strength?

It's true that it's one of my strengths, especially after everything I've been through in my life personally and in soccer.

Grinta on the pitch is something I've had since I was a kid. But with time, you work on it, and you improve it further.

When you know me off the pitch, compared to on the pitch, it's true that I’m two totally different people... But that’s my way of living football and experiencing those incredible moments on the pitch.

Because when you're injured, when you're off the pitch, you realise how lucky you are to be able to play football and really do what you love. Since I've come back from injury, I realise at every match that I'm incredibly lucky to be able to do what I love. And that's why, at every match here, since I arrived at Paris-Saint-Germain, I really give it my all. And that's what I'm going to do for the rest of my career.

What's your relationship with Luis Enrique and how does he work with you?

I have a very good relationship with coach Luis Enrique, especially as I speak fluent Spanish. We get on really well. He gives a lot of advice. Tactically, he's a great coach. He helps me to progress. A footballer can always improve, can always progress, and personally, I'm continuing to improve and progress with Luis Enrique, especially tactically.

You've been in Paris for six months now: how's your day-to-day life here?

It's going really well. I'm very happy to be able to live here, to live in a fantastic city like Paris. I'm very proud of my decision to join Paris-Saint-Germain. I'm lucky enough to be able to see more of my family, to be a little closer to them. It's true that life goes by very quickly. My grandparents are very old, so it's important for me to spend as much time with them as possible. That was one of my goals.
