Look back at the Coupe de la Ligue: Paris win the last ever!

Before switching our focus to the new season, PSG.FR offers the chance to look back at those moments that marked the last campaign, which saw Les Rouge et Bleu complete another quadruple. We start with the last ever Coupe de la Ligue, which Paris won!

Bringing things full circle. In 1995, Paris Saint-Germain won the first ever Coupe de la Ligue against Bastia (2-0). 25 years later, it was Lyon who fell during the penalty shootout in the last ever edition of the Coupe de la Ligue at the Stade de France, in rather strange conditions.

Paris Saint-Germain entered the competition on 18 December 2019, with an away trip to Le Mans. At the MMArena, Thomas Tuchel's side took home a 4-1 victory, thanks to goals from Sarabia, Choupo, Mbappé and Di Maria.

Paris then hosted Saint-Etienne in the quarter finals, the round of the competition at which Les Parisiens had crashed out in the preceding season against Guingamp. Les Rouge et Bleu went to town and scored 6 goals against a helpless ASSE at the Parc des Princes. Icardi got his hat-trick, and Mbappé came close to scoring a magnificent goal, but it just missed the target, much to Moulin's relief.

Reims hosted Les Parisiens in the semi-final and the visitors secured their place in the final with a 3-0 victory. Marquinhos, then a Konan own goal, before Kouassi scored his first goal for the first team, and the 4000th in the club's history in all competitions!

The final against Lyon was postponed to 31 July due to the health crisis, and it promised to be a lively one, just two weeks before the return of the Champions League. In the end, it took a penalty shootout to separate the sides, Navas stopped Traoré's effort, and Sarabia made no mistake just seconds later and secured the club's fourth quadruple, an incredible performance from our Parisians!
