Lionel Messi's Argentina through to the semi-finals

Lionel Messi's Argentina defeated the Netherlands (2-2, 4-3 on penalties) to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. The match took place at the Lusail Stadium.

A few days after their victory over Australia (2-1), the Argentinians faced the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of the tournament.  After a thrilling encounter, they qualified for the next round by winning the penalty shoot-out. Their next opponent will be Croatia, who defeated Brazil earlier in the day.

Once again, Leo Messi was the starter and captain of his team and played the entire game. The Parisian player was once again decisive, scoring his side's second goal from the penalty spot and then converting his penalty in the shoot-out. He also won the man of the match award.
