Leo Messi's crazy week

After his match-deciding exploits in the Finalissima, the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner scaled even greater heights for his country against Estonia.

Everything started on Wednesday against Gianluigi Donnarumma's Squadra Azzurra with the Parisian no. 30 leading the Copa America winners to victory over the European champions.

Named Player of the Match, 'La Pulga' picked up yet another winner's medal, and Lionel Messi was understandably delighted after the final whistle at Wembley: "To finish like this, with this joy, is great. This squad radiates joy and happiness, and that does you good. That's been the case all year for me, and every time I've come to play with them. We played well and we showed we can do it once again."

But his thirst for more success was still intact, and he netted all five in an incredible 5-0 win over Estonia on Sunday. "There are no words to describe him, and above all for what he does," said the Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni. "He's unique and it's a pleasure to have him in the squad, to coach him, his behaviour, and the way he gives his all for the shirt. We can only thank him. I don't think he belongs only to Argentina, but to the whole world. The day when he no longer plays, we're going to miss him, so I hope he'll keep on playing and that everyone will appreciate him and protect him because it's a pleasure to watch him play." (As reported by TyC Sports)

It's now off on a well-deserved break for the Parisian before reporting back for pre-season training in July.
