Kylian Mbappé: 'You can't set limits'

Before getting into the second half of the season, the Paris Saint-Germain forward looked back on a special 2023.

His 2023 was incredible. By scoring 52 goals in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain and France in the the calendar year, Kylian Mbappé once again showed the extent of his huge talent.

He spoke to Amazon Prime about some of them, notably his fantastic strike against Lille at the Parc des Princes on 19 February, baffling Tiago Djaló and Bafodé Diakité in a 4-3 win: "When you're two-on-one and you're a forward and sure of your qualities, it's an advantage because neither of them is going to say, 'It's me who'll intervene'. I didn't just want to make one move, so I did two stepovers, It's so they don't know when I'm going to go, and so when I go, one of them has the legs apart: I go between the two, and it's finished."

And to round the year off, there was the moment when he found himself on the pitch with his younger brother, Ethan, who made his first-team debut aged 16 against Metz in the final game of the year: "When you have a little brother and you see he's entering the big boys' world, it makes you feel old. It reminds you that you've been around a long time, and that's life, that now it's his turn. I was happy, even afterwards when we went home as a family. He was a little bit the star of the evening, it was his debut, so it was strange, but it was a great moment."
