Mbappé nominated Champions League forward of the season
After a remarkable Champions League season, the Paris attacker has made the shortlist of the three best forwards on the continent.
It's now official, UEFA have unveiled the shortlist of the players nominated for forward of the season in the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League season. And Kylian Mbappé figures on the short list, alongside Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund) and Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich), who took the prize for the 2019/2020 season.
Décisive 11 times in 10 European matches (8 goals and 3 assists), the n°7 made a great impression by scoring a hat-trick at the Camp Nou in the Round of 16, then scoring two goals in Bavaria, knocking out Bayern Munich, the title holders.
Add in his 2 goals against Istanbul Basaksehir and his goal against FC Barcelona in the return leg, and the world champion became the top scorer in Paris Saint-Germain history in knockout matches (8), ahead of Zlatan Ibrahimovic (6).
The name of the winner will be revealed during the draw for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League 2021-22, that will take place on Thursday August 26 in Istanbul in Turkey.
