Kylian Mbappé, a legend among Paris Saint-Germain goalscorers

As Kylian Mbappé scored his 201st goal in Paris colours during the victory over FC Nantes on Saturday (4-2), let's take a look back at the top ten goalscorers in Paris Saint-Germain's history.

1. Kylian Mbappé, KING OF GOALSCORERS

Bondy-born (Seine Saint-Denis) forward, Kylian Mbappé joined Paris Saint-Germain during the summer of 2017. In his first season for the club from the capital, the France international was able to make his mark on the club's attack, despite his tender age (18 years old upon his arrival). After scoring 21 goals alongside Edinson Cavani and Neymar Jr, then being crowned World Champion with France in Russia, the following season was the campaign that served as a confirmation of the young forward's talent with 39 goals scored in 43 matches. Despite an incomplete 2019/2020 season due to the global pandemic, Kylian Mbappé found the back of the net on 26 occasions in 35 matches across all competitions. It was a season that came to a close with a qualification for the final of the Champions League against Bayern Munich, a first in Paris Saint-Germain's history. In his fourth season in Paris colours, he managed to hit the symbolic bar of 40 goals, ending the season with 42 goals to his name. That took his tally for the club to over 100 goals. Last season was the first of the attacking trio of Leo Messi, Neymar Jr and the French forward. With 39 goals, Kylian Mbappé took home the title of Player of the Season for the third consecutive season. A campaign during which the Rouge et Bleu attacker managed this time to score his 150th goal for the club, and make even more of a name for himself in the club from the capital's history books. With already 30 goals on the board this season, Kylian Mbappé has now passed the marker of 200 goals for Paris Saint-Germain, and secures his place as the club's all-time top scorer!

2. Edinson Cavani, SECOND WITH 200 GOALS

In July 2013, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta described Edinson Cavani (at the time plying his trade for Napoli), as "a player capable of making Paris grow". A few days later, the Uruguay international travelled to France and the capital to wear the Paris colours. In his first season, he confirmed himself as a key member of the starting eleven with 25 goals. A decisive member of the team during the title race in 2014/2015, he found the back of the net on 31 occasions. During the following season, he once again proved his worth, getting his name on the scoresheet in the Trophée des Champions victory over Olympique Lyonnais (2-0) and then in the the Coupe de France final win over Olympique de Marseille (4-2). He ended the season with 25 goals in his 52 matches played, taking his total to 80 goals in three seasons. The 2016/2017 season was the campaign filled with records for the emblematic Paris Saint-Germain forward: with 49 goals in 50 matches, Edinson Cavani became the second highest scorer for the club in any one season, just one year after the record was set by Zlatan Ibrahimovic (50 goals). He was therefore deservedly named Player of the Season in Ligue 1, and took his tally for the club from the capital to 130 goals. In his fifth season for the club, the Uruguayan once again made it to 40 goals, taking his personal tally to 170 goals for Paris. Finally, during his last two seasons in Rouge et Bleu, 'El Matador' found the back of the net on 30 occasions, which meant that he left Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2020, with 200 goals to his name.

The 2015/2016 season was his last in the capital, but it was the most prolific for the Swedish forward: 50 goals in 51 matches, becoming quite simply the top Paris Saint-Germain scorer in any one season. He was named Player of the Season for the third time in four years, before signing for Manchester United having scored 156 goals in 180 competitive matches for Paris.

He then found the back of the net 19 times during the following season, which was prematurely ended due to Covid. Despite a series of injuries during the next two seasons, the Paris Saint-Germain winger managed to score 30 goals in Rouge et Bleu and hit 100 goals for the club at the end of the 2021/2022 season. With already 18 goals on the board this season, Neymar Jr continues his rise up the rankings of the all-time top scorers for the club from the capital, and why not one day making it onto the podium?
