Kylian Mbappé : 100 miles an hour in Ligue 1

The club from the capital's striker has just reached the incredible landmark of 100 career goals in Ligue 1.

Kylian Mbappé is used to breaking records at record pace. This Sunday night it happened again as he scored his 99th and 100th goals in the Parisians' 4-2 victory against Lyon this Sunday March 21 thus becoming the youngest player in history to reach the mark in the French championship. Another record broken for the man who's been breaking them so often at just 22 years and 91 days old.

He only needed 15 minutes to score at the Groupama Stadium and notch his 99th Ligue 1 goal. But the World Champion didn't stop there before pressing on and scoring his second to reach the 100 goal mark in Ligue 1. On the counter attack he was sent through by Marco Verratti and the Parisian number 7 went past the opposition defenders with his burst of pace and smashed the ball past the Lyon keeper. An eighth goal scored against Anthony Lopes for Kylian Mbappé, that's more than against any other Ligue 1 keeper.

"It was a good day to score my 100th. I knew that I was two goals away . It's another new step in my career and another step towards making history. These are things that stay with people. But it's just the start."  said the striker this Sunday on Canal +.

It's also a chance for us to take a look back at his 100 goals in Ligue 1:

- 142 : the number of games it took him to score 100 goals
- 14 : the number of assists that Angel Di Maria provided to him, his best passer.
- 23 : the amount of times he scored more than once (19 braces, 3 hat tricks, 1 quadruple)
- 60 goals scored at home
- 40 goals scored away from home
- 16 goals for AS Monaco
- 84 goals for Paris Saint-Germain
- 48 goals scored at the Parc des Princes, more than in any other stadium
- 231 shots on target
- 22 goals after a counter attack

With no less than 20 goals scored in Ligue 1 this season, Kylian Mbappé sits at the top of the goalscorers table.  After winning the Ligue 1 top scorer trophy in the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 seasons, the third top scorer in Paris Saint-Germain history with 120 goals in all competitions seems set to retain his trophy for the third straight season.
