Kimpembe: 'I'm a competitor'

France international and world champion Presnel Kimpembe spoke to PSG TV about the victory over Glatasaray and the next match against Angers.

What's the hardest thing about a long injury break?
"Training all alone at the Camp des Loges. It's so long, even when you're on holidays, you're not really on holidays because you think the whole time about working to come back and not do anything to aggravate the injury. It's harder than when you train with everyone, when you run with your mates, the time goes faster. It was also hard when I got back from holidays, because I was convinced I could play. I told the doctor and the physio that I was ready. For me, the aim was to be back for the Trophée des Champions. When I said that to the Doc, he told me it was too early, that it would be more like mid-August, even though I felt good. But when I started training with the team, I suffered a little injury. It was a dificult period, but the medical staff made everything very clear."

The 1-0 win over Galatasaray was a real battle, a very difficult match... the type of match that you enjoy...
"We have played in a number of hostile atmospheres in the Champions League recently. There was Celtic, Liverpool, Napoli, Red Star and now Galatasaray. Very passionate atmospheres, but we are ready for that. When the atmosphere's electric like that, were you can feel you are hated, all the fans are against you, I really like that. Ever since I was little, I've played in atmospheres like that, when we played against Gennevilliers, at Bourget at Sarcelles. During those matches, everyone is against you, so I've been ready for that since I was a kid. Galatasaray striker Ryan Babel had already scored against me with the national team. I'm a competitor and I don't like to lose. I always want revenge and I got to set the record straight against Galatasaray."

On Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain take on Angers, second placed and the real surprise of the season so far…
"It was be an intense match, very physical. They are always tough games against Angers because they always give it everything, that defend well, and sit deep. We know it will be tough, especially at the Parc, like it was against Reims. It's already like a little final, because it's first versus second and we want the three points to distance them."
