Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the transfer of Juan Bernat Velasco. Arriving from FC Bayern Munich, the Spanish defender signed a three-year contract with the capital club, through to 30 June 2021.

The man from Cullera, 25, emerged from the youth ranks at Valencia CF, where he made 74 appearances as left-back for the first team before joining Bayern Munich.

He played 115 matches for the German outfit, in all competitions, winning four consecutive Bundesliga titles.

Before earning seven caps with the Spain senior national side, Juan Bernat won the U19 Euro in 2012.

I am very proud to be joining Paris Saint-Germain,” said Juan Bernat after signing his contract. “After my debuts in Spain and my experience in Germany, I will discover a new country and, above all, a new club who have made a spectacular rise in recent years. Paris Saint-Germain are known throughout Europe, with world-class players, the magnificent Parc des Princes and very big ambitions. I am also looking forward to working under Thomas Tuchel, whose work in Germany was remarkable. I am truly excited to be taking the next step of my career with Paris.

We are very happy to welcome Juan Bernat,” declared Paris Saint-Germain Chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. “Juan has a solid experience after playing for two big European clubs along with his status as a Spain international. He joins us with big ambitions, a desire to keep progressing in a squad of great players and add a new dimension to his career. Juan also has the character our supporters love.”
