Juan Bernat joins Villarreal CF on loan
The 31-year-old left-back joins Villarreal CF on loan for the rest of the season.
Born in Cullera, in the Valencia region of Spain, Juan Bernat joined Valencia CF in 2000 at the age of 7. He made his professional debut eleven years later, on 27 August 2011, in La Liga against Racing Santander. After three seasons in Spain (74 matches, 3 goals, 7 assists), he signed for Bayern Munich, where he won his first titles (Bundesliga champion in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and the DFB-Pokal in 2016) and celebrated his first cap for the Spanish national team with a goal against Luxembourg in October 2014.
The Spanish international was signed by Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window of 2018. He participated in 41 matches during his first season and played a key role in the team's Ligue 1 title pursuit. The left-footed defender particularly stood out in the Champions League, scoring notably against Napoli and at the Parc des Princes against Liverpool and Manchester United.
In the following season, Juan Bernat continued his impressive performances and achieved a quadruple with the club, winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, the Coupe de la Ligue, and the Trophée des Champions. Over five years with Paris Saint-Germain, he recorded 8 goals and 15 assists in 128 appearances. Loaned to Benfica during the 2023-2024 season, the left-back participated in 7 matches across all competitions. The 31-year-old has made 11 appearances for the Spanish national team, scoring 1 goal.
Paris Saint-Germain wishes Juan an excellent season with Villarreal.
