Juan Bernat: 'Happy to continue my adventure'

The Paris Saint-Germain defender spoke of his delight and ambitions after extending his contract with the club from the capital.

Juan, you have just extended your contract with Paris Saint-Germain. How does that feel?
"I am very happy to have been able to extend my contract with Paris, I have always said that I feel good here. I really wanted to continue my adventure with the club, it's now happened and I am very happy about it."

What encouraged you to extend your contract in Paris?
"It's a bit of everything, it's the club, it's the affection that everyone shows me here, the supporters, my teammates. There is a really exciting project here and I am happy to be a part of it. I think that we can achieve great things together, that's one of the reasons that I wanted to continue my time here at the club, and I hope to be able to play here for several more years."

How did things go when you met with Mauricio Pochettino?
"To begin with, I didn't see him that much, especially because we had different schedules. I was working out of hours due to my rehabilitation programme. Then when we met, I had a really good first impression, of him and all of his coaching staff. And it's easier because we speak the same language, so we can understand each other easily. He is a top coach, I think that he is doing great things with the squad and I am happy to be able to work with him."

You are held extremely dear by the Paris Saint-Germain supporters, do you have a message that you would like to send to them?
"We know that the supporters are behind us and they support us. We have a good relationship with them and they are not with us at the Parc and for our away matches.  We really can't wait to reunite with them once more, especially at our home, their home, at the Parc des Princes."

How do you feel about  the end of this season which promises to be extremely tight?
"The league is very tight this year, we are just three points behind the leaders and I hope we will make up these points. I also hope to be available for the final games and to help the team. For the moment, we can only think about working hard and winning each match."
