Juan Bernat: 'Happy to be here'

Paris Saint-Germain's new defender faced the media ahead of Friday's Ligue 1 encounter with Saint-Etienne at the Parc des Princes (kick-off 20:45CEST).

HIS ARRIVAL
"I'm very happy to be here, at Paris Saint-Germain, in a great team. None of us players have a guarantee. Layvin [Kurzawa] is injured right now. Before anything else, I would like to wish him a speedy recovery. I'm here to earn my place. I'm looking forward to Friday, I can't wait for the match to come, and I'm really looking forward to playing with my new teammates."

HIS PRE-SEASON
"I feel really good, I'm ready to play, 100 percent. The coach will decide who'll be on the pitch, but I'm ready. I was sidelined by injury for four months last season. After that, there were other problems, probably linked to that injury. But today, I'm 100 percent."

HIS AIMS
"We're going to play in four competitions. The aim is to win them all. Of course we know it'll be difficult. For me personally, I'm here to play as much as possible and to grow as a footballer."

SETTLING IN
"It's always tricky to adapt to a new place, but I think it's easier for me for two reasons. The first is that the coach had a real influence on me coming here. The second is that his style suits me. He wants to get results with possession football. I started training last week. Because of the international break, a number of players were absent. We're now at full strength and everything's going well. I'm settling in quickly. I already feel really good."

COMPETITION
"Every team has at least two players for each position, especially a big club like Paris Saint-Germain. So, I'm not worried about that. For each player, the goal is to earn their place in each training session, during each match. There are a lot of us, it's up to the coach to decide who'll be on the pitch."

HIS PROFILE
"I started to play left-wing before - at the age of 20 - becoming a defender. That's my natural position now, in a four or five-man defence. It's the position in which I feel best, but I can also play further up the pitch."
