Jean Djorkaeff, guest of honour in Lisbon

Paris Saint-Germain's very first captain has been invited to Lisbon by CEO and Chairman Nasser Al Khelaifi for Sunday's UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

This Sunday's UEFA Champions League final is a unique moment in the club's history and comes 50 years to the day after Paris Saint-Germain played their very first match: at Poitiers, in the French second division, and Jean Djorkaeff was captain.

'The Chairman thinks of the former players'

Welcomed to Lisbon by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the ex-France international and father of another ex-Parisian, Youri, told PSG TV of his delight. "It's fantastic, extraordinary! It's above all thanks to the Chairman and CEO, who thinks about the former players. I'm very happy. I'm thinking of all those who were with me 50 years ago," he said.

'Tchouki' wore the Paris Saint-Germain captain's armband between 1970 and 1972, and thanks to his qualities as a defender and leader, made a place for himself in the club's history books.

"Back in the day, there was a strong feeling of community between us, the players and the fans. It's nothing new. It's something extraordinary. It got things off on the right foot."

The PSG family reunited

Youri was part of the side that lifted the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1995/96. "Youri, he did better than his dad," said Jean with a smile, who had a word of advice for the Rouge-et-Bleu's pre-match preparations: "It's a question of temperament. In this situation, everyone is aware you have to do that little bit extra to win."

One thing is certain: the Rouge-et-Bleu family will be right behind Thomas Tuchel and his men. "Perhaps I'm biased, but I think we're in a good position to get a result. There will be situations where perhaps there'll be the opportunity to make the difference...". That's what everyone in the Paris family is hoping too!
