Idrissa Gueye: "This title is for our supporters"

Questioned by PSGTV, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder spoke about his daily life since the start of confinement, and about the 9th French league title won by the capital club.

Hello Idrissa, first of all, how are you?
"I'm doing very well!  The situations is a bit strange because I was used to waking up, having a coffee, going in the car to the training ground, being with friends, coming home... I'm now at home all day. The good side of things: I've never seen as much of my children!"

Are you still training?
"I'm trying to keep fit the best I can, running from time to time, whether on the machine or outside, and doing exercises. The hardest thing is not being able to play football. My son is my new teammate. He's always by my side and tries to do everything I do. He's there when I'm training and wants to do his abdominals, press-ups, strengthening exercises... He wants to do everything! So I train with him."

You won your first French title with Paris Saint-Germain in strange circumstances. Can you appreciate it in spite of everything?
"Of course we're savouring it! It's true that the fact of not being with the teammates and people around the club to celebrate it in the right way is a bit bizarre. At the moment we need to stay at home and so we're celebrating with those close to us. We're doing everything we can to enjoy the moment."

You celebrated the title with the family?
"Yes, we had a little family meal and my wife prepared a little cocktail we shared with a friend who is confinement with us. We didn't have much of a choice, that's confinement for you. We celebrated in our own way!"

Have you spoken about it to your teammates?
"We have messaging group. We all put messages, photos and videos on  there to remember the high spots of the season, and we did it in order to live the moment together. It's obvious we would have liked to have been altogether. That would have been something else, but we don't have a choice in the matter."

Would you like to dedicate the title to anybody in particular?
"I would like to dedicate it to everybody who supports the club all over the world, and notably to the Senegalese who support Paris-Saint-Germain. I've also got a thought for my family as they've always backed me, and also for all the people who are fighting this illness, trying to help us get out of the situation. I'm thinking in particular of the health personnel and of all those who are taking risks in order to try to save us."
