Icardi: 'Play at the highest level'
New Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi reveals his joy at signing for the capital and how much he's looking forward to this new challenge:
Mauro, how does it feel signing for Paris Saint-Germain?
"I'm very happy. It's a great challenge to play for a side like Paris. This is a great step forward in my career and I hope to live great things here."
You join a squad of great players...
"Playing with them is the challenge. I'm so happy to have to opportunity to play at the highest level and signing for Paris Saint-Germain gives me that opportunity, thanks to the players they have here. I know all the Argentinians here, and Edinson Cavani. I also know Neymar. It's a very special feeling to know that I will be playing next to them."
What are you objectives with Paris Saint-Germain?
"I have come here to win titles. Paris Saint-Germain are the dominant force in France and have won a lot of trophies in recent years. We are all competitors and the supporters want us to give everything to win titles. I hope to do everything I can to contribute to the next successes of the club by scoring a lot of goals!"
What type of attacker are you?
"I'm a penalty box forward, I love scoring, and that is my strongest characteristic. This side has many talented players, many great attacking players who play to score and to assist. I am sure I will fit in perfectly here."
What do you know about the Ligue 1? How will it differ from Serie A?
"Serie A has a reputation for being very defensive. It's very hard to score. I can't wait to play now in the French league. I can't wait to learn and meet this new challenge head on."
Do you know Paris?
"I know Paris a little. I've come a few times on holidays. Now I will live here and can get to know it beter. I have never had the chance to come to the Parc des Princes, and I really can't wait to be there and play in front of the fans."
You have the reputation of a player that likes the big games...
"Playing in these types of matches are the most beautiful thing in football. In Italy, there are a lot of derbies, matches with big rivals. I love these matches... And now I want to play them here, with Paris Saint-Germain."
