Gueye and Diallo send Senegal to the final
The Senegal team of Idrissa Gueye and Abdou Diallo won against Burkina Faso in the semi-final of AFCON 2021 (1-3).
After qualifying for the semi-finals by eliminating Cape Verde in the round of 16 (2-0), and then beating Equatorial Guinea in the quarter-finals (3-1), the Lions of Teranga have become the first team to book their ticket to the 2021 African Cup of Nations Final.
Senegal managed to eliminate Burkina Faso on Wednesday evening in Yaoundé (1-3), at the end of a tense match. In a tough and intense encounter, it was our two Parisians who carried their team, as Abdou Diallo opened the score from a corner (0-1, 70'), before his teammate Idrissa Gueye added to the score six minutes later with a well-taken goal (0-2, 76'). Each goal was set up by Sadio Mané who had the luxury of scoring himself to extinguish the last hopes of Burkina Faso a few minutes before the end of the match (1-3, 87').
The men of the former Parisian Aliou Cissé are now waiting to know who their opponent for the final will be, which will be played on Sunday, February 6th (20h), in Yaounde. They will find out tomorrow after the other semi-final between hosts Cameroon and one of the favourites for the tournament, Egypt.
