Gabriel Moscardo Express

Check out a quick summary of the career of Paris Saint-Germain’s newest midfielder, Gabriel Moscardo.

A METEORIC RISE

Having been immersed in football since early childhood, it was as a 12-year-old back in 2017 that Gabriel Moscardo signed for his very first club, Corinthians SC. As the seasons went by, the man born in Taubaté, a city in the state of São Paulo, gradually established himself within the Timão's world-renowned academy, but it was in 2023 that the young Brazilian's career would take a major turn.

After regularly featuring for Corinthians' youth teams, Moscardo made his professional debut on 29th June 2023, in a Copa Libertadores game against Uruguayan outfit Liverpool Fútbol Club. From then on, the defensive midfielder asserted himself as one of the biggest talents in the Brazilian top flight and became a mainstay in the São Paulo–based side's starting XIs, racking up a total of 25 appearances last season.

Moscardo, whose dream is to compete at the Olympic Games in Paris next summer, made his debut for Brazil's U23s at the tender age of 17 last September, in a friendly against Morocco's U23s. Having burst onto the national, continental and international scene in the space of just two months, the Brazilian prodigy is now preparing to start a new adventure on the other side of the Atlantic.

FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF MARQUINHOS

In the same way that another of Paris's winter signings, Lucas Beraldo, followed in the footsteps of fellow São Paulo academy graduate Lucas Moura, Moscardo's career path is reminiscent of that of another of the capital club's iconic figures, Marquinhos. While the current Rouge et Bleu captain's first move was to AS Roma, he also made the switch to European football just a few months after making his professional debut, thereby proving his precocious talent.

Aside from his talent on the pitch, Moscardo has also excelled as a university student. In parallel to his football career, the gifted Brazilian studied business administration at São Paulo's Universidade Paulista, ranking as one of the course's brightest pupils, and even after nailing down a place in the Corinthians first team, the youngster was committed to attending classes as regularly as possible.
