From the Champs to the Parc, a look back on our champions' crazy day
Just a few hours after Paris Saint-Germain's triumph in the Champions League final against Inter Milan (5–0), it was time for celebration and unity in Paris. Here's a look back at the Rouge et Bleu parade on the most beautiful avenue in the world.
A TRIUMPHANT RETURN
The people of Paris has been dreaming of it and Luis Enrique and his men made it happen. On Saturday night, the club from the capital earned its star in an unforgettable evening. A victory forged in a match where everything went right for our Rouge et Bleu, who showed relentless determination throughout the encounter.
After the effort came the time for celebration in Paris. Barely had the euphoria of victory settled when our European champions invited their fans to an extraordinary parade on Sunday afternoon on the Champs-Élysées.
A historic moment
From early afternoon, crowds flocked to the most beautiful avenue in the world, patiently waiting for their heroes. Meanwhile, Les Parisiens were leaving Munich, a city now forever etched in the history of the club from the capital, to return to Paris, where the heart of its supporters beats strongest.
Around an hour and a half and 685 kilometers later, the European champions landed at Roissy and immediately began their journey into the streets of the capital. From plane to bus took just a step, and surrounded by a spectacular procession, our Rouge et Bleu made their way to the Champs-Élysées. At the same time, nearly 70,000 supporters had gathered all the way up to the edge of Place de l’Étoile, a name that now shines even brighter.
In front of a jubilant crowd, the celebration could finally begin. For over half an hour, the open-top bus set the crowd alight, as fans gave every last ounce of their voices to thank, cheer and congratulate their team. As Maurice Chevalier sang nearly a century ago, “Paris will always be Paris, the most beautiful city in the world.” Whether it was the supporters or the players, the Rouge et Bleu faithful proved it once again on Sunday.
At the end of the Champs-Élysées, however, the festivities were only just beginning for the club from the capital, which then made its way to its home and fortress, the Parc des Princes, to continue the celebration late into the night with its supporters.
