First training session in the United States!

Having arrived in the USA the day before, Paris Saint-Germain headed to Irvine on Wednesday morning for their first training session.

FIRST STEPS ON AMERICAN SOIL

After an 11.5-hour flight and a night at their base camp in New Port Beach, the Parisian delegation left their hotel at around 10:00 to begin their preparations for the FIFA Club World Cup. They headed for the campus of the local university, UC (University of California) Irvine, in Orange County, which will be the venue for the Parisians' first training sessions on American soil, scheduled for 11:00.

The European champions were weolcomed by the local cheerleaders, orchestra, mascot and young students. Then it was time for some of the players to work in the gym while others took to the Crawford Field for toros, ball retention exercises and goal work, before leaving at around 13:30.

Our European champions will be making their FIFA Club World Cup debut when they take on Atlético de Madrid at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday 15 June (12:00).

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

Luis Enrique, who has just arrived in the United States, spoke to FIFA about the capital club's upcoming fixtures: "We're very happy to be here," explained the Rouge et Bleu coach. Playing in the Club World Cup is fantastic. We can't wait to start training and to kick off the competition next Sunday. To have been crowned European champions for the first time in the club's history is incredible for Paris Saint-Germain. Now it's time to get back into competition and go for the trophy."

Presnel Kimpembe echoed his sentiments: "The Club World Cup is an important competition for us. We're coming here with very clear objectives: to go as far as possible and win it. We're all ready for this new challenge."
