A little bit of history...

It will be the 76th competitive encounter between Paris Saint-Germain and Rennes, with a clear advantage falling in Les Rouge et Bleu's favour with 40 victories, 16 draws and 19 defeats.

Les Parisiens go into the match on the back of a defeat against Les Rennais in Brittany, on 18 August 2019 at Roazhon Park (1-2) having won the previous seven away matches against SRFC in competitive matches, the club's second best run after Lorient (8 wins from 2009 until 2021) and on a par with Nantes (7 wins from 2008 until 2019).

It's also at Rennes that Paris Saint-Germain picked up the first point of the QSI era in Ligue 1, with a draw in Brittany on 13 August 2011 (1-1). Since then, Les Rouge et Bleu have played 12 matches at Roazhon Park, taking home 9 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat (30 goals scored, 10 conceded).

30 players have worn the colours of both sides: Jocelyn Angloma, Sylvain Armand, Claude Arribas, Hatem Ben Arfa, Daniel Bernard, Grégory Bourillon, Louis Cardiet, César, Clément Chantôme, Édouard Cissé, Stéphane Dalmat, Kaba Diawara, Nicolas Douchez, Mevlüt Erding, Louis Floch, Franck Gava, Yannick Guillochon, Bernard Lama, Gérard Lanthier, Jérôme Leroy, Stéphane Mahé, François M’Pelé, Guy Nosibor, Grégory Paisley, Albert Poli, Philippe Redon, the late Christophe Revault, Jocelyn Rico, Bruno Roux and Jean-Luc Vasseur.

Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria are Paris Saint-Germain's top scorers against Rennes, with 7 goals scored. They sit ahead of Dominique Rocheteau (6 goals) Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr (5 goals), and Pedro Miguel Pauleta, Nenê and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (4 goals).

What's at stake...

It's a must-win match for Les Rouge et Bleu, who still sit behind Lille with three matches left to play.

Paris Saint-Germain are on a six-match winning run away from home in Ligue 1, at Marseille (0-2), Dijon (0-4), Bordeaux (0-1), Lyon (2-4), Strasbourg (1-4) and Metz (1-3). A run that is already the second best in the club's history after the runs in 2016-2017 (8 wins), and on a par with 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 (6 wins).

the keys to the match...

Angel Di Maria, who equalled Safet Susic's club record for assists (103, from 1982 until 1991), enjoys games against Rennes, the opposition against whom he has scored most goals (7 goals), ahead of Dijon and Monaco (6 goals) and Angers, Marseille and Montpellier (5 goals).

The Argentine is also Paris Saint-Germain's top scorer at Roazhon Park with 4 goals scored in all competitions, on a par with Neymar Jr.

Rennes defender Damien Da Silva is the only player to have scored an own goal in Paris Saint-Germain's favour in Ligue 1 this season, on 7 November at the Parc des Princes (3-0).
