A bit of history...

It's the 105th competitive encounter between Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco, Les Parisiens still trail Les Monégasques, with a record of  31 victories, 28 draws and 45 defeats for Les Rouge et Bleu.

Monaco are only beaten by one club in terms of the number of matches played against Les Parisiens: Girondins de Bordeaux, with 107 competitive matches played between the two sides.

The form of these matches has considerably changed in recent years: before the defeat in Monaco (3-2) on 20 November, Paris Saint-Germain were on a 12-match unbeaten run (11 wins and 1 draw) against Les Monégasques.

Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco will battle it out for the 49th time in competitive matches at the Parc des Princes, where Les Parisiens have won 17, drawn 12 and lost 19. Just two clubs have played more than 50 matches on the pitch at the Porte d’Auteuil: Bordeaux (54) and Marseille (50).

At the Parc des Princes, Les Parisiens are on a five match unbeaten run against Monaco (3 wins and two draws).

Matches between the two sides have often been spectacular to watch in recent years, with 55 goals scored in the last 12 matches between the two sides, an average of 4.58 goals per match.

With 15 goals, Edinson Cavani, is Paris Saint-Germain's top scorer against Monaco. He sits ahead of Kylian Mbappé (7 goals), Angel Di Maria and Carlos Bianchi (6 goals), Neymar (5 goals) and Amara Diané (4 goals).

Safet Susic started his career at  Paris Saint-Germain against Monaco at the Parc des Princes on 18 December 1982. Coming on off the bench in the second half, he was unable to lead his side to victory as they fell to a 1-0 defeat. Ronaldinho scored his final goal for Les Rouge et Bleu against Monaco from the penalty spot on 4 May 2003. And Pedro Miguel Pauleta opened his goalscoring account in Paris against Les Monégasques on 24 August 2003 (4-2 victory for Monaco).

Monaco are also the only side to have missed two penalties at the Parc des Princes against Les Parisiens. On 22 November 1986, Manuel Amoros then Sören Lerby couldn't score past Joël Bats, and the goalkeeper didn't even have a save to make as both efforts were off-target. Despite these two misses, Monaco came out of the match as 1-0 winners.

What's at stake...

Paris Saint-Germain will want to secure all three points against a direct competitor in the title race. Les Parisiens are on a six match winning streak at the Parc des Princes, with 18 goals scored and only one goal conceded, and they have won 9 of their last 10 matches, with the only defeat coming against Lorient (2-3).

Les Parisiens haven't put a foot wrong at home since the defeat against Lyon (0-1) on 13 December, with a run of six wins in the league against Lorient (2-0), Strasbourg (4-0), Brest (3-0), Montpellier (4-0), Nîmes (3-0) and Nice (2-1), with 18 goals scored and one conceded. 

The keys to the match...

Paris Saint-Germain will be able to look to Kylian Mbappé, who picked up a hat-trick in mid-week in Barcelona (1-4) in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. The former Monaco man has scored 7 goals in his last four games against his former club.
