The history, what’s at stake and the keys to the match! Find out everything you need to know before the friendly between Paris Saint-Germain and Celtic, this Tuesday July 21 at 19:00 CET at the Parc des Princes.

A little bit of history...

Paris Saint-Germain - Celtic, Act 5! The two teams have met on four occasions and the Rouge et Bleu have most definitely enjoyed the upper hand.

In the 1995-1996 season, the Parisians knocked out the Scottish club in the Round of 16 (1-0 at the Parc des Princes 19/10/1995, 3-0 at Celtic Park 02/11/1995).

More recently, the two clubs met in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, with two big wins for the capital club: 5-0 in Glasgow 12/09/2017, 7-1 at the Parc des Princes le 22/11/2015. The overall record then reads 4 wins for Paris, with 16 goals scored and just one conceded.

At the Parc des Princes, no Scottish club as ever been victorious: as well as the two Celtic games, Heart of Midlothian lost (4-0 in the Round of 64 of the UEFA Cup 19/09/1984) and Glasgow Rangers got a draw (0-0 in the Round of 32 of the UEFA Cup 06/12/2001). Rangers knocked out Paris on penalties (the first leg at Ibrox Park had also finished 0-0).

Paris Saint-Germain will be reunited with Odsonne Edouard, who spent his formative years at the Camp des Loges, but who never played a competitive game with the Rouge et Bleu first team, just like his predecessor at Celtic Moussa Dembélé.

Before those two, Stéphane Mahé and Youssouf Mulumbu also wore the colours of both clubs.

Never two without three?

Paris Saint-Germain have the objective of finishing off the preparations for the domestic Cup finals with a third win, following victories against Le Havre (9-0,  12/07/2020) and Waasland-Beveren 7-0, 17/07/2020).
