Everything on Paris-Augsbourg!

Take a look at everything you need to know ahead of kick off in the friendly between Paris Saint-Germain and FC Augsburg on Wednesday 21 July at 19:00CET at the Stade de la Source in Orléans.

A bit of history...

Paris Saint Germain - FC Augsburg, Act 1!

Les Parisiens have never played a friendly or a competitive match against the side that finished in 13th place in last year's German championship and who have played in the Bundesliga since 2011.

From the 2021-2022 Bundesliga, 8 clubs have already played against Paris Saint Germain (of 18 in total), in competitive matches or friendlies: Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, VFL Wofsburg, Eintracht Frankfurt,  Bayer Leverkusen, Hertha Berlin and FC Cologne.

Without forgetting Werder Bremen, Schalke 04, Hamburg SV,  Dynamo Dresden, FC Nuremberg (German D2) and FC Kaiserslautern (D3), FC Augsburg will become the 15th German opponent to face Les Rouge et Bleu.

Paris Saint Germain will return to the Stade de la Source in Orléans, three years after Les Rouge et Bleu qualified against the home side in the Round of 16 of the Coupe de la Ligue (2-1 on 18/12/2018).

Les Parisiens have already played four friendlies in Orléans, the last of those dates back to 5 July 2000 with a victory over Troyes by 2-1.

THE STAKES...

The last two friendly matches against German sides date back to the start of the 2019-2020 season, with a victory over Dynamo Dresden (6-1 on 16/07/2019) and a draw against FC Nuremberg (1-1 on 20/07/2019)

After a run of friendly wins (6 victories: 3-0 over Sydney FC in 2019-2020, 9-0 against Le Havre, 7-0 over Waasland Beveren, 4-0 against Celtic and 1-0 against Sochaux last season, and 4-0 against Le Mans on 14 July) achieved against Chambly (2-2 on 17 July), Les Rouge et Bleu head into this game on the back of a 7 match run without defeat, since the friendly on 27 July 2019, during the International Champions Cup against Inter Milan (1-1, 5-6 on penalties).

The KEYS TO THE MATCH...

After Achraf Hakimi against Le Mans, a second Paris Saint-Germain recruit should make his debut against Augsburg: Sergio Ramos, who will follow in the footsteps of his Spanish compatriots (in alphabetical order) Mikel Arteta, Yuri Berchiche, Juan Bernat, Cristobal Parralo, Enrique De Lucas, Ander Herrera, Jesé, Sergio Rico and Pablo Sarabia.
