A Little bit of history...

This will be the 102nd encounter between Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon, with only two clubs playing more matches against Les Rouge et Bleu: Bordeaux (108 matches) and Monaco (105 matches). The record is in favour of Les Parisiens with 42 victories, 28 draws and 31 defeats.

Paris Saint-Germain go into the match on the back of two victories in Lyon in competitive matches: on 22 September 2019 in Ligue 1 (0-1) and on 4 March 2020 in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France (1-5). It's a first for Les Parisiens since Les Lyonnais returned to the top-flight in 1989.

The two sides ended a match at the Gerland with the score at 4-4 and eight goals scored on two occasions: 13 September 1974 and 25 February 2012. A very rare score for Les Parisiens in the league: achieving it on just three occasions (with Amiens last season on 15 February 2020) in 1,784 matches since 1970.

The last draw between the club from the capital and Lyon in Ligue 1 dates back to 8 February 2015 (1-1 in Lyon). Since the draw, the two sides have faced each other on 11 occasions and Paris Saint-Germain have come out on top on seven occasions and have fallen to defeat four times.

After Paris Saint-Germain, who have been present in Ligue 1 since 1974, Lyon is the club that has the longest run in the top-flight (since 1989), with 32 seasons at the highest level.

27 players have worn the shirt of both clubs: Hatem Ben Arfa, Milan Bisevac, Mathieu Bodmer, Luc Borrelli, Daniel Bravo, François Brisson, Jérémy Clément, Grégory Coupet, James Debbah, Vikash Dhorasoo, Jean Djorkaeff, Raymond Domenech, Fabrice Fiorèse, Pierre-Alain Frau, Laurent Fournier, Franck Gava, Ludovic Giuly, Pascal Havet, David Hellebuyck, Christophe Jallet, Gérard Lanthier, Patrice Loko, Peguy Luyindula, Florian Maurice, Bruno Ngotty, Jean-Luc Sassus and Daniel Xuereb.

Paris Saint-Germain's top scorer against Lyon is Edinson Cavani, with 9 goals scored. He's ahead of Kylian Mbappé (8 goals), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (7 goals) and Mustapha Dahleb (6 goals).

The STAKES...

A match at the top of the table in Lyon, between the sides currently on level terms behind Lille.

The final sprint of the season is underway, Les Parisiens still have their destiny in their own hands, with a much better goal difference ahead of the visit of the current leaders, Lille in the next round of matches on 3 April.

Away from home in the league, Paris Saint-Germain are on a run of three wins and three clean sheets: at Marseille (0-2 on 07/02/2021), Dijon (0-4 on 27/02/2021) and Bordeaux (0-1 on 03/03/2021). Les Parisiens have already kept nine clean sheets this season away from home in the 14 Ligue 1 matches played.

THE KEYS TO THE match...

The Parisian goalscorers enjoy games against Lyon, with 154 goals scored against Les Gones. Only one club has conceded more than Les Lyonnais: Saint-Étienne, with 157 goals conceded.

Kylian Mbappé is the only Paris Saint-Germain goalscorer to have scored four goals in the same match against Les Lyonnais, in just 13 minutes (5-0 on 7 October 2018 at the Parc des Princes in the league), but also a hat-trick during the last match in Lyon between the two sides (1-5 on 4 March 2020 in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France).

Abdou Diallo could play his 50th match in Paris colours this evening and Layvin Kurzawa could make it 150 appearances for the club from the capital.

Paris Saint-Germain will also be able to look to Angel Di Maria, who will be hoping to make it 100 assists for the club in Lyon, as he attempts to get one step closer to the club record held by Safet Susic (103, from 1982 until 1991).
