A bit of history...

Le Classique, Act 101! Only four clubs have reached the symbolic total of 100 matches against Paris until now : Bordeaux (108 matches), Monaco (106 matches) and Lyon (103 matches).

 In terms of direct confrontations, the record largely favours the club from the capital, with 45 victories, 22 draws and 33 defeats. 

Les Rouge et Bleu are on an eight match unbeaten run against Marseille at the Vélodrome (6 wins and 2 draws), since the defeat on 27 November 2011 (0-3).

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the club's top scorer against Marseille with 11 goals scored, he sits ahead of Edinson Cavani (7 goals), Kylian Mbappé and Pedro Miguel Pauleta (6 goals).

With 18 appearances, Sylvain Armand is the Parisian to have played in the most number of Classiques for Paris, a record that could be equalled by Marco Verratti on Sunday.

THE STAKES...

Les Parisiens, the current leaders, will be looking to continue their almost perfect start to the Ligue 1 season, having picked up nine wins and just one league defeat.

Against Marseille, their record is also exceptional: 23 competitive matches in the last 10 years, with 19 wins, 3 draws and just 1 defeat. 

The Parisian forwards enjoy their games against OM, with 145 goals scored. Les Olympiens can only be beaten by Saint-Étienne (161 goals), Lyon (158 goals) and Lens (146 goals).

The keys to the match...

Paris Saint-Germain will be able to count on Marquinhos, a lucky charm for Les Rouge et Bleu against Les Olympiens, with the Brazilian on a run of 15 matches without defeat (13 wins and 2 draws) during the competitive matches between the two clubs. 

Kylian Mbappé, who scored at Marseille in the last two trips (2-0 on 28/10/2018 and on 07/02/2021) could enter Classique history by becoming the first Paris Saint-Germain player to score in three consecutive matches against OM at the Stade Vélodrome.

Juan Bernat, Ander Herrera, and Mauro Icardi could all play their 50th Ligue 1 match against Les Phocéens.
