A little bit of history...

36th official game between rencontre Lorient and Paris Saint-Germain and the Parisiens dominate the fixture having won 21, drew six and lost eight.

On September 26 1970 over 50 years ago Paris Saint-Germain drew in Lorient at the Stade Yves-Allainmat (0-0) in matchday five of the the championnat National Central group (now Ligue 2). FC Lorient is alongside the Stade Brestois PSG's oldest opponents in this season's Ligue 1.

The Parisiens are on a run of 12 straight victories against the Merlus and 14 games unbeaten.
12 wins in a row is the longest current run for the club from the capital and the second best in the Rouge et Bleu's history behind the 17 wins against Nantes from 2007 to 2019. 
Even more impressive Paris Saint-Germain have won eight in a row in competitive matches against Lorient. Another record for the club from the capital. The Parisians have also won their last six league fixtures away in Lorient, a record once more equalled by Nantes (run ended in 2018). 

10 players have played for both sides: Fabrice Abriel, Grégory Bourillon, Louis Cardiet, Fabrice Fiorèse, Kevin Gameiro, Ludovic Giuly, Christophe Jallet, Ronald Le Crom, Patrice Loko and Stéphane Pédron.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic with eight goals is Paris Saint-Germain's top scorer against Lorient. Pedro Miguel Pauleta trails him with four goals.
The Swedish striker is also the only Paris Saint-Germain player to have scored a hat trick against the Merlus at the Parc des Princes on March 20 2015 in the league (3-1 win for the Parisiens).

What's at stake...

Paris Saint-Germain need to win in Brittany to regain their spot at the top of the Ligue 1 table after Lyon's 2-1 win against Bordeaux this Friday (2-1). 
The Parisiens will want to continue their run of eight consecutive competitive games without losing (seven wins and one draw) since the defeat against Lyon (0-1) on December 13 at the Parc des Princes. 
Angel Di Maria has scored 49 times in Ligue 1 and could reach the 50 goal mark in the top flight this afternoon. Only 11 Paris players have reached 50 league goals in the club's history. 

the keys to the game...

Paris Saint-Germain's defence are on a run of three consecutive clean sheets against Brest (3-0), Angers (1-0) and Montpellier (4-0) and have only conceded one goal in their last seven league games.  Having only conceded 11 goals in 21 games, the Parisian club have the best defence in the league ahead of Lille (15 goals conceded).

Away from home Paris Saint-Germain have only conceded six goals in ten games (including three against Monaco last November, final score 3-2). It's the club's best start to a season since the 2015-16 season (three goals conceded in ten games).

The game in  Lorient is at a peculiar time for the Rouge et Bleu who have only played at 15:00 once in the league since 2010 when they beat Rennes (3-1) on September 23 2018.
