Everything about Paris - Reims!

History, what's at stake and the keys to the match! Discover all you need to know ahead of kick-off in Matchday 37 of Ligue 1 between Paris Saint-Germain and Reims on Sunday May 16 at 21:00 at the Parc des Princes.

a little bit of history...

Paris Saint-Germain and the Stade de Reims have faced each other 27 times in competitive games with the Rouge et Bleu having the best of it: Paris have won 12 times, drawn 7 and lost 8.

Reims were victorious last season at the Parc des Princes (0-2, 25/09/2019), a defeat that put an end to a run of 22 matches unbeaten at home in the league for the Parisians.

In the 1970s, Reims were dangerous against the club from the capital: they are one of the only French teams (with Nantes in 1970-1971 and Nancy in 1984-1985) to have scored six goals against the Rouge et Bleu (6-1, on August 9 1974, in the league) thanks to six goals from Carlos Bianchi, who joined Paris Saint-Germain three years later.

16 players have played for both sides: Manuel Abreu, Carlos Bianchi, Grégory Bourillon, Bernard Bureau, François Calderaro, Jean-François Charbonnier, Antoine Conte, Amara Diané, Antoine Garceran, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Dominique Lokoli, David N'Gog, Richard Niederbacher, Alain Polaniok, Younousse Sankharé and Siaka Tiéné.

Paris Saint-Germain's top scorer against Reims is Edinson Cavani, having scored 7 goals. The Uruguay international is trailed by François M’Pelé (5 goals).
It's also interesting to note that the Algerian Stade de Reims defender Aissa Mandi is the only player to have scored two goals for Paris with his brace of own goals on April 5 2014 at the Parc des Princes (3-0 for Paris Saint-Germain).

what's at stake...

It's the final home league game of the season for Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes, it's the third time that Reims are the Rouge et Bleu's final home opponents, after 1978-1979 (3-2, 01/06/1979) and 2014-2015 (3-2, 23/05/2015).

The Parisians will have to beat Reims and hope for a Lille slip-up to have a chance at another Ligue 1 title.

the keys to the match...

Paris Saint-Germain will be able to count on their striker Kylian Mbappé, who has now scored 39 goals in 2020/2021. The Parisian has now equalled his record in a single season (2018-2019) and has already entered the top 5 seasons in the club's history behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic (50 goals, 2015-2016 season), Edinson Cavani (49 goals, 2016-2017 season), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (41 goals, 2013-2014 season) and Edinson Cavani (40 goals, 2017-2018 season), and level with Carlos Bianchi (39 goals, 1977-1978 season).

Kylian Mbappé has never faced Reims at the Parc des Princes : he wasn't there in 2018-2019 (4-1 for Paris Saint-Germain, 26/09/2018) and 2019-2020 (0-2 for Reims, 25/09/2019) since Reims' return to Ligue 1.

Angel Di Maria will be able to stamp his mark in Paris Saint-Germain history: the Argentina midfielder who has 103 assists, is level with the club's top assister Safet Susic.
