Di Maria: 'The team's style has changed'
Paris Saint-Germain's Argentina star Angel Di Maria spoke to PSG TV this week to discuss his season so far and the challenges ahead for Les Rouge et Bleu.
Angel, you provided the assist for Edinson Cavani's 100th goal at the Parc des Princes...
I'm very happy for Edinson. It is very important for him and for the club. It's a pleasure to have been able to set him up for the goal. I have given him many assists and it is very important for him to reach 100 goals at the Parc des Princes.
What are the objectives for the rest of the season?
The three competitions that we are still playing are the most important now and we want to win all the titles. Being eliminated from the Coupe de la Ligue was a hard blow for the club because we had won it for many years in a row. The important thing now is to think about the remaining competitions.
You scored more goals last season, but this term you lead the league in assists...
We are changing and the style of the team has changed. The important thing here is the team and that we all try to score goals to be successful in every competitions. I started with many goals, now I am giving assists and that is important not only for me... I always look at the squad, the team, and it's about winning titles. That is the most beautiful thing for everyone.
How do you judge the first month of competition in 2019?
This part of the year is very complicated and it is important to have all the players in the best possible form. Having two or three injured is more complicated for the coach. In a short time the UEFA Champions League will return and the most important thing is that we are all 100 per cent.
Paris host Rennes this Sunday. What type of match are you expecting?
It will be a difficult game, complicated. All teams, when they come here, play very defensively and look to hit on the counterattack. We will continue to play our game, to do our best. Our number one aim is to win Ligue 1.
