Danilo: "Fan the inner flame that every player has"

The Parisian defensive midfielder spoke to PSG TV about his performances and the French league.

Danilo, how did you experience the game against Real Madrid, in which you played an important role?

"It was a match for which we had prepared a lot. I felt good because we had a clear idea with Verratti, Paredes and me in midfield. I also had to pay attention to Vinicius Junior and help Hakimi. I had different roles, but I felt good and, above all, very useful to the team. That's the most important thing. Our mentality allowed us to win."

Paris travels to Nantes on Saturday. How do you approach this game after putting in so much intensity against Real Madrid?

"We have to be good mentally. After a Champions League match, we have to stay focused no matter what the result is. We know that in Nantes the match will be difficult and totally different from the one against Real Madrid. A league game is never easy, especially away from home. Mentally, we will have to be very strong."

It's possible that Nantes will play defensively. Is it difficult to play against teams that play a low block?

"It's very difficult to play a team that plays as a defensive block because, in addition to being low, they are also defensively very strong and well organised. These teams have coaches who know how to give good instructions and who are tactically very strong. It is difficult to reach the opponent's goal. The level of the French championship is very high. The players who play here know that.  The teams are good tactically and have very fast players who play on the counter-attack and can score goals easily. The league is evolving and is getting more difficult every year."

You have scored three goals this year, is this something you are working on in training?

"At the moment I feel really good. Although I am a defensive player, I have this desire and I feel capable of attacking. I was so happy to score two goals in the game against Lille. It's always important to help the team by scoring goals."

Despite good results, Paris Saint-Germain has suffered some criticism. What do you make of it?

"We are not satisfied with the minimum. Every player is demanding of himself. It's obvious that everyone wants more, the fans as well as us. The fans want more than a win, they want a show and I think that's great because it helps to fan the inner flame that every player has. And to know that in every game you have to give your best."
