Christophe Galtier: "We've worked with a lot of drive and focus"

The Paris Saint-Germain manager spoke in his pre-match press conference today, with two days to go until the game at home to Lorient on Matchday 33 of Ligue 1.

ON THE SQUAD

"The squad is doing really well. We recovered well after the win away to Angers, and we've worked well this week, with some really good training sessions and a lot of drive and focus. Neymar has also come back to Paris. As we've seen, he's a constant ray of sunshine for us, and we're happy to see him again. Nuno Mendes should also be available for Sunday. He was rested last week because he was experiencing some discomfort."

ON LORIENT

"They're a team that seems to have run out of steam slightly after a great first part of the season, but they've got a young manager who has a lovely style of football. They've been through a bit of a rough patch, and they also lost their top scorer in the winter. It's always really difficult to replace a player like that midway through the season. They're a team that gets the ball down and plays, creates danger and does a lot of running. They're a very technical side, especially between the lines, so we'll need to be disciplined in order to manage this game properly."

ON THE FANS

"Our fans in the Tribune Auteuil won't be there. They're always there for us, both on the road and at the Parc des Princes. Even in the tough times, they've always supported us. I remember the game against Lille, which we turned around thanks in part to them. We're hoping to win for them on Sunday."

ON SERGIO RAMOS

"He had a difficult season last year with recurring injuries, but he had a full pre-season last summer, and he's a highly professional player. He brings experience, high standards every day and discipline. He's an important player in the dressing room. We're really happy with what he gives us in games but also on a daily basis. He's an example for the young players and for everyone."

ON ISMAEL GHARBI

"He's a powerful, attacking player with a lot of technical quality, and he works hard in training, but we're duty-bound to get results. There have been a lot of absentees, and we also had a trickier time of things on the pitch, so it was difficult for me to throw in the young players during that time, but he's become more mature in his way of playing and has gotten closer to the standards of professional football over the course of the season. I just didn't want to give him more responsibility in what was a tougher time for us."

ON THE YOUNG PLAYERS

"The young players are also privileged enough to be able to work with some big players on a daily basis, and that's how you progress. They're seeing what the highest level demands from them. They're also on the team sheet a lot, and they're seeing how to prepare for games. That's really important for their development, and we're talking about players who are 17 or 18 years old. It's tough to get a lot of game time at Paris Saint-Germain, but they can see what's required of them in that sense. They're learning what it means to be a Paris Saint-Germain player."

ON THE ANGERS GAME

"I looked back at the second half away to Angers with my players. Not everything is about desire; you need to be able to play in order to break through the lines and create chances. You also need to enjoy yourself when you play. There are players who have aims in terms of their individual stats, and we need to be able to feed our attack through our defenders and our midfielders. We didn't play forward enough in the second half against Angers. If there isn't any movement, it isn't nice to watch."
