Christophe Galtier: 'We dug deep'

The Paris Saint-Germain coach was joined by Kylian Mbappé to look back on the victory over Nantes on Matchday 26 of Ligue 1 for PSGTV.

Christophe Galtier

"It was a match that really started well, with desire, determination and quality football. We managed to get a two-goal lead. It seemed that we had Iearnt our lesson from the match against Lille and then all of a sudden, from a very strange goal, with an awful lot of audacity from Ludovic Blas, we let them get going again. We conceded a second goal from a set-piece straight after. We had about 17-20 minutes where there was a lot of easing off, lots of technical mistakes. We struggled defensively and we gave Nantes hope. But in the second half, unlike against Lille, we came back with better intentions, a bit like the way we had started the match. We came back with real determination. We needed to talk a lot with my players at the break, and there you go, we managed to retake the lead. Then given where the squad is at currently, some players went off injured. I couldn't make the coaching decisions that I would have liked to, firstly because of the situation, secondly because of the injuries and the knocks that Nordi Mukiele and Marquinhos picked up, which meant that we finished with a team with a lot of youngsters on the pitch. But in the end, we dug deep. And then came Kylian's 201st goal."

KYLIAN MBAPPE

"Yes, there we go, I am happy! In the end, there were spaces that opened up. I wanted to do it. Why not? Then Tim played a good ball into me, I had the chance, I protected it well, I turned, I struck and goal. I am proud. You know, I have scored lots of goals, it's been a long time. It's my sixth year here. As I said earlier, I arrived here when I was very young, I was a kid. Progressing as a player and as a man... I have experienced a lot here, and to be rewarded with something on a personal level is brilliant. But I hope that we are going to win titles this year."
