Christophe Galtier: 'The move from Leo - Kylian - Leo was extraordinary'

Christophe Galtier and Carlos Soler spoke to PSGTV about Les Rouge et Bleu's performance at Ajaccio on Matchday 12 of Ligue 1 (0-3).

Christophe Galtier

"The conditions were a bit difficult, because the pitch looked very good. But then, as the match went on, it began to deteriorate, unfortunately. But Ajaccio still put us under pressure for 20-25 minutes with a direct game plan, using the wings. It meant there were lots of bodies in the box. My players were very good defensively for these 20-25 minutes. It was important to hold on during this pressure. And then, as soon as the pressure subsided, it gave us a lot of space and lots of possibilities. Kylian scored a magnificent first goal, which was obviously important. He had a great chance to make it 2-0, but as he was about to strike, the ball bobbled up.

It could have been interesting to go in at 2-0 at the break, it would have allowed us to make changes earlier in the game. But in the second half, the rhythm dropped and my players controlled things well technically and won the ball back where we needed to. And then, we scored another two magnificent goals. Of course, the move from Leo - Kylian - Leo is an extraordinary goal on this difficult pitch, but it's also the third goal. The link-up between Leo and Kylian really worked well and it's very good for the team and it's very good for them. They are players that need to score and that's very good for them. It also allowed me to make changes to give certain players a break. And I liked the way that our midfield played too."

Carlos Soler

"Yes, as you say, the pitch was tricky. The opposition, despite being in the relegation zone, pressed a lot, especially in the first half. I think that in the second, they were a little bit more tired and then, we scored the second and then the third goals which sured things up for us. It was a delicate match because it was a difficult pitch. But we picked up three important points.

I am happy to get some minutes. It's not easy to change club for the first time. But I am happy with my teammates. They help me a lot and these matches allow me to gain in confidence. And I am grateful to my teammates and the club, who have made things easy for me from the start and I will continue. I am happy with the performance, the win and the three points. And now, we need to continue, because we are back in the Champions League on Tuesday."
