Christophe Galtier: 'Play a great match and make our supporters proud'

Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier appeared before the media for the traditional pre-match press conference, two days before facing Olympique de Marseille in a top-of-the-table encounter.

THE PACE

"It's very high, in particular with the double header against Benfica, but it's the same for Marseille, they are also on our rhythm. This pace generates fatigue, and some injuries. We have to focus the sessions on recovery, without rest. We have to work hard without going too far in terms of effort. We are also working on the mental aspect, the nervousness; our recent matches were not up to scratch in terms of results and play. It's a lot of work for a coach."

THE CLASSIQUE

"I'm very focused on preparing for the match, it's a match that everyone is watching. We're preparing for it well and there is a lot of expectation from our supporters. We want to make them proud - they have been encouraging us and cheering us a lot since the beginning of the season, we hope to have a great game and win to make our supporters proud."

THE APPROACH

"We have to be very specific about what we are going to ask of the players. We have to put them in the best possible position, and have them play to each other's strengths and play for each other. The image that we have to project must be exemplary. We hope for a committed match with plenty of rhythm, and above all we hope to play a great match and win."

HIS FIRST CLASSIQUE

"I'm the coach of Paris Saint-Germain and I'm very happy. These are two teams that are in form, and it's the match that many people are waiting for. I'm very focused on the ingredients that we have to put in. This is a special kind of match and my players know it. We have to play a great match, bring the quality and win it. We'll make sure we give back to our fans the confidence they have in us. I've followed Marseille's last few games and I'm very happy to be on the Paris Saint-Germain bench for this match."

TACTICS

"I have thought a bit about changing things up given the absences. We have played four matches in the last ten days - after an international break during which many of our players were on duty with their national teams. We had to work on freshness. We have some absentees. We have to think about the defence and the way our midfield will work - I work a lot on that with my staff."
