Christophe Galtier: 'It was important for the title race'

The Paris Saint-Germain coach was accompanied by club captain Marquinhos to look back on the victory over OGC Nice on Matchday 30 of Ligue 1 (0-2) for PSGTV.

Christophe Galtier

"Of course it was important for the title race, but also following our two below-par performances. We came to face Nice, who are a team that hadn't lost here since September, and who were in great form. The players reacted, were determined, showed solidarity and combativeness. We certainly didn't put in our best performance of the season, but once again, at this stage of the season, it is the points that are important. We were able to score at important moments. Gigio made a huge impact too.

We needed to use the ball better when we won it back. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to. Of course, there was a lot of pressure from Nice, but maybe we didn't use the spaces and gaps that we could have found through the middle."

MARQUINHOS

"It was the moment to give the best possible answers, and I think that we had a lot of discussions, we spoke a lot during the week. We had a good week of work, a good week of discussions, it's for the benefit of everybody. We knew that we weren't at our best and that we would need to come back united today. And I think that this was the objective of today's match. And coming back as the cohesive team and block that we had at the start of the season gave us the best results. Today, we see that when we are together, when we play for each other, when we don't lose our team energy, well I think the result comes on its own with the quality that we have.

400 matches for Paris? It's huge, even I didn't think about that when I arrived here. I just wanted to play football and enjoy myself. It was a huge club, and to play with idols was my ambition. Today, I look back, 400 matches, there are lots of things that have happened. Good times, bad times, but they always happened with passion, with love for the sport we play. And with respect for this shirt. I think that in the end, that's what the supporters, my family and I will remember when I stop playing. All of these matches that I have played for Paris Saint-Germain will remain in my heart."
