Christophe Galtier: "Always the ambition to play well and to win"

The Paris Saint-Germain coach answered questions from PSG TV and the media before the game on Matchday 19 of Ligue 1 against Stade Rennais FC, this Sunday, January 15 at 8:45pm at Roazhon Park.

RENNES

"In Rennes, it will be difficult. They are one of the best teams in the league. They have a distinctive game, and there is a great atmosphere there. It will be a very open game. We'll have to be careful in our defensive positioning because they push forward a lot, impose our game, and be better in using the ball than against Angers. We always have the ambition to play well and to win, but we will be facing a good team and a very good coach. We always enjoy watching this team and the work of Bruno Genesio. They get forward very quickly and cause problems defensively. They are a very difficult team to play at home. They take risks, it goes from one goal to another! It will be a very fast-paced, intense game against a strong opponent."

squad

"It's been almost two months of not having the full squad together. We are only now beginning to get back to an almost complete squad. The players had to find automatisms in their national teams which means they forgot about ours. It's up to my staff and me to make sure that they reconnect and rediscover the pleasure of playing together. Kylian Mbappé? He is ready to play. He has recovered well, as has Achraf Hakimi. They are available for the team. Marco Verratti ? He is a very important player. When he is not here, his positioning is missed. He's doing well, he's getting back on track and returning to the group soon."

intensity

"In Ligue 1, the teams are confident. We saw it against Angers who came with a lot of ambition. And it's not the only one. The more difficult the matches are, the better it is for us. It makes us raise our level and not go through the motions."

Hugo Ekitike

"Hugo Ekitike had a long period of adaptation. He had to find his feet alongside world-class players. He scored at Lens, and was also decisive in the Coupe de France and against Angers. He offered some very interesting things. He is progressing and finding his place. The absences give him playing time. We are happy with him, and he will have many more opportunities to play. I hope he continues, and is demanding and hard on himself."
